Srinagar: Police on Thursday conducted raids across Baramulla, Pulwama and Shopian as part of a major crackdown on subversive elements following the deadly Red Fort blast.

A police spokesperson said the operations were aimed at neutralising law-defying networks and strengthening overall public order. Six individuals linked to subversive activities were detained and bound down under legal provisions.

During the operation, police searched 22 properties associated with overground workers (OGWs). Twenty OGWs were bound down, while two were placed under preventive detention. Two individuals booked under the UAPA and currently on bail were questioned, with one subsequently bound down. Eight other UAPA-accused out on bail were identified for bail cancellation, and cases of two have already been submitted to court.

A total of 16 cordon-and-search operations (CASOs) were carried out across the Valley, and 292 vehicles were checked. Police also searched five individuals linked to the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance (E&IMCO) and two Jamaat-e-Islami affiliates. Two absconding UAPA-accused were traced.

In Pulwama, CASOs targeted multiple locations, including networks associated with the Jammu and Kashmir Nationals Operating from Pakistan (JKNOP) and other subversive elements. In Shopian, extensive searches were conducted at premises linked to members and associates of JeI and JKNOP.

According to the spokesperson, the operations form part of an ongoing crackdown to identify individuals and networks involved in providing logistical or financial support to terror-related activities.
