Cross-Border Organized Arms and Narcotics Smuggling Network Busted in Punjab

Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Wednesday busted a cross-border organised arms and narcotics smuggling racket with links to Pakistan, arresting three individuals involved in the operation.

According to officials, Amritsar Police seized 10 sophisticated pistols and 500 grams of opium from the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were part of an inter-district smuggling network and maintained connections with a Pakistan-based handler, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated on X.

The seized weapons were reportedly intended for supply to gangsters and other criminals to promote illegal activities in Punjab.

A case has been registered at Sadar Police Station, Amritsar. “Further investigation is in progress to identify and dismantle the entire network, including its forward and backward linkages,” the DGP added.
