CS Atal Dulloo discusses enhancement of health infrastructure with Union Health Secretary

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today held an in-depth discussion with Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to explore ways to strengthen health infrastructure and enhance healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.

At the outset, the Chief Secretary expressed gratitude to the Ministry for increasing MBBS intake capacity in several medical colleges in the Union Territory.

The meeting reviewed the progress of key centrally sponsored construction projects, the introduction of specialized courses such as MD/MS, DM/MCh, and DNB in newly established medical colleges, and proposals to add 50 MBBS seats in other eligible colleges. Discussions also focused on bolstering tertiary care facilities in the newly established Government Medical Colleges (GMCs).

Chief Secretary Dulloo further sought the Ministry’s support in expediting the completion of AIIMS Awantipora and facilitating the expansion of AIIMS Jammu, while assuring full cooperation from the J&K administration in implementing all Ministry initiatives in the region.

The Union Health Secretary assured the Chief Secretary of careful consideration and timely action on all matters discussed during the meeting.
