Poonch, 11 December 2025: District Police Poonch continued its campaign against drug abuse by organising a Mega Cultural Show at Higher Secondary School, Mendhar. The programme featured a short play on drug addiction and musical performances highlighting the risks associated with substance abuse, aimed at raising awareness among students and the local community.
A large number of students and residents of Mendhar attended the event and appreciated the police department’s sustained efforts to protect young people from the threat of drugs.
The programme was held under the supervision of SSP Poonch Shafket Hussain JKPS, who has been leading several awareness initiatives across the district. SDPO Mendhar DySP Toseef Ahmed JKPS coordinated the event on the ground.
Artists from Saraswati Sangeet Kala Kendra, Poonch, led by Pardeep Khanna, presented an engaging cultural performance that received wide appreciation from the audience.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Poonch Shafket Hussain JKPS urged students to remain alert to the activities of individuals involved in drug trafficking. He encouraged them to promptly inform the police or school authorities about any suspicious behaviour linked to the drug trade.
Principal Sayeed Saleem Shah thanked District Police Poonch for organising the awareness programme at HSS Mendhar and praised the initiative for engaging students through a creative and meaningful approach.
District Police Poonch reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the youth from drug abuse and called upon the community to work together in this collective fight.
