New Delhi: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, currently in Moscow, has indicated that the dates for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to India are still being finalized. Sources clarified on Thursday that Doval did not mention any specific date or time during his engagements, dismissing media reports suggesting a visit by the end of August as inaccurate.
In a video posted by Sputnik News, Doval emphasized the longstanding and strategic nature of India-Russia ties.
“We have a very special and long-standing relationship, and we highly value our strategic partnership. Our high-level engagements have made significant contributions,” he said.
Expressing anticipation for President Putin’s visit, Doval added, “We are excited and delighted about His Excellency President Putin’s visit to India. I believe the dates are nearly finalized. More importantly, summit meetings have always marked key milestones in our relationship.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Russia in July last year, where both leaders reaffirmed the unique and time-tested partnership, grounded in trust, mutual understanding, and strategic convergence.
According to a joint statement issued after their meeting, the leaders praised the broad-based and mutually beneficial nature of India-Russia relations, which encompass political, strategic, military, trade, energy, science, nuclear, space, education, and cultural cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction at progress made and a shared commitment to exploring new areas of collaboration.
Meanwhile, the 11th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation was held in New Delhi on Wednesday, under the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.
