GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a meeting to discuss implementation of ‘Revival Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage’ scheme in the district.
At the outset, DC was briefed about the progress achieved so far under the scheme wherein it was revealed that the project Prayag Raj Temple is under revival at present and project report formulation of other identified sites has been submitted to Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museum.
The DC directed the concerned to identify more historical sites which need revival/restoration in the district which could be taken up with the Director Archives, Archeology and Museum, Kashmir for approval under the scheme.
While reviewing the progress under the scheme, the Superintending Engineer, PWD(R&B) informed that 85 percent work is completed on Prayag Raj Temple at Narayan bagh Shadipora besides Administrative approval has been accorded for an amount of Rs 507 lakh for historic Jamia Masjid, Haman and allied works at Malshahibagh under the scheme.
Furthermore, the DC directed Superintending Engineer, PWD(R&B), Ganderbal to submit the DPR of remaining sites as per heritage norms in consultation with Archives, archeology and museum Department.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineer, PW(R&B) Circle Ganderbal, Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Ganderbal and other concerned.
