JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a meeting with representatives of insurance companies and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, to discuss measures for the swift settlement of insurance claims arising from rain and flood-related damages to businesses, vehicles, and properties.
Dr. Minhas stressed the importance of a coordinated approach to ensure timely relief for affected individuals and traders. He noted that many claimants had lost critical documents during the recent floods, which should be taken into account while processing insurance claims.
It was unanimously decided that the District Administration would facilitate close coordination between insurance companies and affected persons to expedite claim settlements. Insurance firms assured they would provide dedicated contact points and helplines to help claimants register and track their cases efficiently.
The Deputy Commissioner has also issued DO letters to insurance companies, automobile dealers, and service centers, directing full cooperation in implementing the meeting’s decisions.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, highlighted key concerns of the business community and appreciated the proactive role of the District Administration in streamlining the claims process.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Planning Officer Ajaypal Singh, Arun Gupta, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and representatives from leading insurance companies and banks.
Dr. Minhas reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to provide all possible support to businesses and citizens, ensuring that genuine claims are settled at the earliest.
