JAMMU,: District headquarters Jammu hosted a programme today to commemorate Safer Internet Day. The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya and saw participation from various district officers and government officials.
District Informatics Centre Jammu, under the guidance of Director NIC and District Informatics Officer Sanjeev Kapoor, organised the event.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Vaishya emphasised the importance of judicious and mindful use of the internet. He urged officials to exercise caution when sharing official documents and communications through various channels. He also highlighted the need to remain vigilant against fake calls and scams, such as impersonation and digital fraud. Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the necessity of protecting children from unfettered internet use to prevent potential harm or abuse.
The District Informatics Officer delivered a detailed presentation on the significance of Safer Internet Day. He provided insights into safeguarding personal identity and financial security online, offering daily tips for safe internet usage. He also educated attendees on identifying fake websites and advised against entering personal or banking information on such platforms.
The event featured discussions on various aspects of digital safety, including phishing, vishing and maintaining digital hygiene. These topics were addressed as part of the broader awareness activities aimed at promoting responsible internet use.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, ACR Dr. Rajesh Kumar, ACG Vikas Dhar Bagati, Dy DEO Rajeshwar Kumar besides other district officers, along with their staff, were present on the occasion.
