24×7 Emergency Operations Centre Set Up for Immediate Response
KATHUA: Following the calamity in Jode (Jakhole) and Bagra (Janglote) areas of Kathua district early Sunday, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today visited the affected sites to assess the situation.
At Jode in Jakhole, where five lives were lost, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by ADC Kathua Vishavjeet Singh, ACR Vishav Partap Singh, and Tehsildar Vikram Kumar, closely monitored rescue and relief operations. These efforts, carried out jointly by the Army, Police, SDRF, and Civil Administration, included the evacuation of the injured and provision of immediate assistance.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Sharma, along with DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, visited GMC Kathua to check on the condition of those injured from Bagra village in Janglote, where two lives were lost and several houses were damaged. He assured the injured and their families of full administrative support.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officers to ensure prompt relief and rehabilitation while maintaining close coordination with all line departments for effective emergency response.
In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the District Administration has established a round-the-clock Emergency Operation Centre. CPO Kathua Ranjit Thakur has been appointed as the Nodal Officer. For emergency assistance, people can contact 01922-238796 or 94191-40916.
