Kulgam, Dec 13: The Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme in the district, with a focus on enrolment progress and outreach among unorganised workers.

During the meeting, officers from labour, social welfare, and other concerned departments presented detailed updates on the current status of registrations and the steps taken to expand awareness at the grassroots level. The review highlighted the need to strengthen mobilisation efforts to ensure that eligible workers are informed about the benefits of the scheme and guided through the enrolment process.

The Deputy Commissioner called for coordinated action across departments to improve coverage and remove bottlenecks affecting beneficiary registration. Emphasis was laid on increasing the visibility of facilitation centres, enhancing field-level engagement, and ensuring that frontline staff assist workers in completing formalities without delay.

Departments were instructed to intensify awareness drives, particularly in areas with low enrolment, and to maintain regular communication with the district administration. The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to submit timely progress reports and ensure that the implementation of PM-SYM remains on track.

The meeting concluded with a call for sustained efforts to extend the benefits of the scheme to all eligible unorganised workers in the district.
