KUPWARA: In order to have an on-the-spot assessment of developmental issues of the residents and traders community of Kupwara town, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara Ayushi Sudan Wednesday evening undertook a surprise visit to Kupwara town.
The DC paid a visit of Bus stand Kupwara, Jamia Market, Iqbal market, Babar lane Kupwara, Byepass Kupwara, Rigipora bus stand and other markets of the town and had an on-spot assessment of development, sanitation and other facilities being provided to the people.
The DC was accompanied by Tehsildar Kupwara, CEO Kupwara Municipality, ARTO Kupwara, Chairman traders federation Kupwara, chairman bus association Kupwara, and other concerned officers from district administration and Police.
The DC directed Chief Executive Officer, Kupwara Municipality to chart out a proper vendors rehabilitation plan and identify any suitable place for street vendors of the town so that a separate vendor zone is established and pavements and foot paths of the town are spared for pedestrians.
To address the traffic jams in the area, the DC directed for preparation of a strict traffic regulation plan and identifying of suitable spaces for car parking facilities in the town.
On the occasion traders and residents of Kupwara town projected the demand of construction of separate toilet blocks for ladies and gents at different markets of Kupwara town.
The DC directed the concerned Departments to immediately take up the measures for water logging and other sanitation related issues of the town.
Members of traders federation Kupwara called on the DC and apprised her about the issue of relocation of the dumping site from bus stand Regipora .
The DC assured that necessary steps will be taken to relocate the dumping site from the vicinity of Rigipora bus-stand and asked concerned officers to identify any suitable place for dumping site.
Meanwhile locals and traders of Kupwara town have hailed the maiden visit of DC to Kupwara town.
