RAJOURI: The District Administration of Rajouri has taken firm action to address the long-standing issue of waste dumping in the town, initiating measures aimed at a permanent and sustainable solution.

The problem of waste accumulation in Rajouri has been a concern for an extended period. In response to public grievances, the District Court had earlier ordered the cessation of dumping at traditional sites and instructed authorities to identify an alternative location for scientific waste management.

Following the court’s directives, expert teams from the Swachh Bharat Mission inspected the proposed new site and approved it for waste management operations. To ensure swift progress, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, constituted a high-level committee to assess and improve solid waste management in the town, directing it to submit a detailed report within seven days.

The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to actively participate in keeping the town clean and aesthetically pleasing. Citizens have been encouraged to share grievances or suggestions related to sanitation and ward-level issues with the committee to contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Rajouri.

He assured that a permanent solution to the waste dumping problem would be implemented within a month and warned that strict action would be taken against any unauthorized dumping by Municipal authorities after the resolution.

“Public awareness and cooperation are key to resolving this civic issue. The problem cannot be tackled without active community involvement,” the DC stated, emphasizing the District Administration’s full commitment to public welfare and the overall cleanliness of Rajouri town.
