DC Ramban Calls for Smooth Movement of Fruit-Laden Trucks on NH-44
RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Ilyas Khan, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, today inspected the National Highway (NH-44) to review vehicular movement amid the ongoing seasonal migration of nomads and the heavy flow of fruit-laden trucks heading to different parts of the country during the peak fruit season.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner also assessed the feasibility of restoring double-lane movement on the highway to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow in both directions.
He was accompanied by Additional SP Majeeb-Ur-Rehman, DySP Om Prakash, Dy. DP Traffic Sajjad, and other officers from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The DC took a detailed review of traffic regulation arrangements and directed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement, particularly for essential commodities and perishable fruit consignments. He stressed the importance of close coordination among the Traffic Police, NHAI, and District Police to avoid congestion and ensure the safety of commuters and migrating livestock.
Emphasizing proactive management, the DC instructed officers to remain alert at critical junctions and bottlenecks, deploy sufficient manpower, and maintain real-time coordination with control rooms to promptly address any traffic disruptions.
He also directed the NHAI to prioritize maintenance work where necessary and ensure that road conditions remain optimal. The concerned agencies, he said, are making concerted efforts to facilitate seamless traffic movement and ensure public convenience during the fruit season and the migration of nomadic flocks.
