REASI : District Development Commissioner Babila Rakwal, today chaired a meeting of the District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) to review the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use and action taken by the concerned departments to curb the menace of drugs.
The DDC directed all stakeholders to launch a massive awareness campaign against drugs and also appealed to parents of teenagers’ and young children to keep watch on their children to prevent them from drug addiction.
She reiterated that the Reasi Administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug suppliers and traffickers. The DC asked all concerned to make a micro level strategy to deal with the menace. The District level NARCO coordination committee appreciated the enforcement departments for launching effective measures to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district. The Committee asked for working with the same spirit.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned stakeholders to work in tandem and make dedicated efforts to make Reasi a drug free district and keep the youth on the right track to enable them to contribute towards the development of the Nation
The DDC discussed various agenda points including IEC activities, special PTM in educational institutions, awareness among drivers, functioning of drug de-addiction centres etc.
SSP, Amit Gupta, ADDC Jyoti Slathia, ADC Abdual Star, ACR Anshumali Sharma, PO ICDS, District Drug Controller officer, heads of educational institutions and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
