Reasi: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, has ordered the termination of four temporary officials of the Rural Development Department (RDD) after an enquiry exposed their involvement in record manipulation, financial misappropriation and large-scale irregularities.

The probe, led by ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh, uncovered violations under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

In Block Jij Bagli, Mohammad Latief (Gram Rozgar Sevak) and Rahil Magotra (Technical Assistant) were found guilty of issuing fake and duplicate job cards, irregular sanctioning of toilets under SBM, and misusing government funds. Out of 55 job cards under scrutiny, seven were fake, five were duplicates, 24 were deleted, while 31 remained active.

In Block Chassana, Abdul Qayoom (GRS) and Arun Gandotra (Technical Assistant) were indicted for irregularities, including a ₹3 lakh expenditure shown for constructing a Community Sanitary Complex, which did not exist on the ground.

The DC has also written to the Secretary, RDD, recommending strict action against permanent officials—including BDOs, AEE, Junior Engineers and Panchayat Secretaries—who were posted during the period of irregularities. She further directed recovery proceedings under J&K Civil Services Rules, 1956, to ensure accountability and prevent future malpractices.

Reaffirming her commitment to integrity and transparency, DC Malik said the administration will maintain zero tolerance towards corruption.
