SHOPIAN : Chief Planning Office, Shopian and District Statistics and Evaluation Office, Shopian today jointly organised a function prior to “17th National Statistics Day” (being celebrated on 29th June every Year) at Mini-Secretariat Shopian, here.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion released three Annual Statistical Publications viz. District Statistical Hand-book, District at a Glance and Village Amenity Directory, prepared by the District Statistical and Evaluation Office Shopian.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the aim of National Statistics Day is to pay tribute to Legendary Professor P.C. Mahalanobis (Great Indian Statistician) for his contribution to economic planning.
He stated that the celebration of this day aims to educate people on the importance of knowing the basics of Statistics as it plays a major role in our daily life. He said that development is impossible without proper planning and proper planning depends upon actual data.
The Joint Director, Planning, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana while speaking on the occasion, said that they try to collect actual and real statistical data for comprehensive planning, and the publications released today are efforts of many in that direction.
Assistant Director, District Statistics and Evaluation Office, highlighted the main development and welfare data of the publications.
The Officers and Officials of Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Shopian and other concerned were present on the occasion.

Eid Ul Adha 2023: DC B’la visits various Eidgah’s; takes stock of preparations for Congregational Prayers
Calls for hassle-free services to people for smooth celebration of Eid
BARAMULLA, JUNE 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today visited several Eidgah’s including Eidgah Jadeed and Eidgah Qadeem in Baramulla to review arrangements put in place for the
Eid ul Adha congregational prayers there.
During her visit , Dr Sehrish directed for upgradation of facilities there saying that all services should be put in place for convenience of devotees thronging the Eidgahs during Eid ul Adha.
The DC also directed the concerned departments to make all streetlights in the area functional and ensure thorough maintenance of cleanliness in and around the Eidgahs on the auspicious occasion of Eid.
Meanwhile, the DC also interacted with concerned representatives and listened their issues. The DC gave on spot directions to the officers concerned for early redressal of their genuine issues.
Moreover, directions were also issued to other officers to ensure all possible arrangements in the district so that the people shouldn’t face any kind of inconvenience.
The DC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Baramulla, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, DYSP HQ Altaf Khan and other concerned officers.
