Coordinated approach needed to tackle winter vagaries, no disruption of vital services to be tolerated: DC
SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today chaired a meeting of officers to take an elaborate review of the winter preparedness of departments in view of approaching winters.
The DC reviewed the availability of snow clearance machines in rural and urban areas, availability of buffer transformers, operation of power workshop, provision of ration, water, healthcare facilities, electricity, road connectivity, etc.
The meeting was apprised by officers about the role and responsibilities of their departments, after which the DC instructed the officers to ensure uninterrupted provision of vital services during the winter.
He stressed that no disruption of services shall be tolerated, directing officers to tackle the winter vagaries through coordinated approach among line departments.
Fire and Emergency, Disaster Management Authority, SDRF, and others were also instructed to remain prepared to tackle any eventuality.
During the review, DC also took stock of readiness of departmental Control Rooms to respond to eventualities and Grievances resolution of the public.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz; concerned district/ sectoral officers and tehsil/ block officers.
