DC Srinagar reviews road upgradation, traffic decongestion measures around Bone & Joint Hospital
SRINAGAR: To assess the ongoing infrastructure upgradation works aimed at easing traffic congestion around the Bone and Joint Hospital, Barzulla, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Tuesday conducted an onsite inspection of the road expansion and macadamization works in the area.
The DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B Tatheer Manzoor, Tehsildar South Sajjad, Medical Superintendent Dr. Adil, Executive Engineer KPDCL, and other concerned officers.
During the visit, the DC reviewed the progress of macadamization and related works along the Bund and examined possible traffic decongestion measures, including the construction of ramps, link roads, alternate entry routes, connecting walkways, and the development of dedicated parking facilities for hospital staff and attendants. These measures aim to improve traffic flow and ensure the smooth movement of ambulances and patients in and around the hospital.
The DC also took an on-ground assessment of the proposed alternate hospital entrance and the development of dedicated corridors for ambulances, doctors, and patients to streamline access and reduce congestion.
Reviewing the pace and quality of work, the DC directed the concerned departments to expedite completion of the remaining components of the project. He emphasized close coordination among executing agencies to minimize public inconvenience and maintain uninterrupted traffic flow during the works.
DC Labroo underlined that the District Administration Srinagar is implementing a series of short-, mid-, and long-term measures to address traffic congestion across the city. He said that decongesting the Bone and Joint Hospital is a key part of this broader initiative, as it will significantly improve emergency response times, access for ambulances, convenience for attendants, and working conditions for hospital staff and doctors.
