DC Srinagar reviews and finalizes arrangements for upcoming Prakash Diwas celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

SRINAGAR: In preparation for the upcoming Prakash Diwas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, to be celebrated on November 5, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Thursday chaired a meeting at the DC Office Complex to review arrangements being made by various departments for the smooth observance of the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, SDM West Irfan Bahadur, SDM East Zubair Ahmad, ACR Umar Gulzar, Superintendent of Police Umar Shah, along with officers from the Hydraulics, KPCL, Traffic, Food Safety, and other line departments. Members of the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee were also present and apprised the DC of the specific requirements for the occasion.

At the outset, the DC reviewed in detail the arrangements related to cleanliness and sanitation, parking and traffic management, power and water supply, medical facilities, and other essential logistics to ensure seamless celebrations.

Emphasizing close inter-departmental coordination, the DC directed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to conduct special sanitation drives at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi, Rainawari, and other prominent Gurdwaras across the city. He also instructed concerned officials to take effective measures to control stray dog menace in these areas.

The Traffic Police were asked to prepare a comprehensive traffic and parking plan to prevent congestion around major Gurdwaras, while the KPDCL and Jal Shakti Department were directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply during the festivities. The Health Department was instructed to deploy medical teams and ambulances at key locations for any emergency needs.

The DC stressed that all departments must complete their assigned tasks well before the event to ensure that devotees have access to all necessary facilities during the auspicious celebrations.
