DDMA Samba plans wide-ranging measures to reinforce disaster readiness

SAMBA: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Samba today chalked out a comprehensive plan to reinforce readiness, including constitution of a specialized disaster response force.

A crucial meeting, chaired by District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma,   brought together key officials and stakeholders to formulate a coordinated approach to disaster mitigation and emergency response.

Key outcomes of the meeting included directives to all departments to conduct regular mock drills to test emergency response protocols, comprehensive review and necessary amendments to existing disaster management plans, discussions on forming a specialized disaster response force for the district, mandates for departments to develop detailed disaster mitigation and response strategies.

The DDMA’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to safeguarding lives and infrastructure in Samba district against potential natural and man-made disasters.

“We are taking concrete steps to ensure that Samba is prepared for any emergency situation,” added the DM. “By strengthening our coordination mechanisms and community awareness initiatives, we aim to build a disaster-resilient district.”

The meeting saw participation from senior officials including Additional District Development Commissioner Champa Devi Thakur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kusum Chib, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, and representatives from essential departments such as Health Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Forest, PDD, PHE, Police, SDRF, NDRF, Flood Control and Security Forces.
