Jammu: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu to check on those injured in the recent flash floods in Kishtwar district, officials said.
Singh, accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, went directly to the hospital after arriving from Delhi and met the 16 patients undergoing treatment there.
The tragedy struck on August 14, when a cloudburst hit Chisoti village, leaving 65 people dead and over 100 injured. Thirty-two people remain missing.
Officials said Singh had planned to visit Chisoti, the last motorable village on the route to the Machail Mata temple, but the trip was cancelled due to bad weather.
Before flying back to Delhi, Singh will halt at Raj Bhavan. Doctors at GMC also briefed him on the medical care being provided to the injured, officials added.
