Kanpur, December 1 — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur to review cutting-edge defence innovations and ongoing research projects.
Officials said the Minister was briefed on advanced technologies being developed for the armed forces, including high-performance protective gear, lightweight materials, and specialised equipment designed to enhance operational efficiency and soldier safety.
During the visit, Rajnath Singh interacted with scientists and researchers, appreciating their contributions to strengthening India’s defence preparedness. He emphasised the importance of indigenous innovation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
The Minister highlighted that DMSRDE’s work in advanced materials and protective systems is crucial for modern warfare requirements, particularly in extreme environments. He urged the establishment to continue its focus on innovation and collaboration with industry partners.
Authorities added that the visit reflects the government’s commitment to supporting defence R&D and ensuring that India’s armed forces are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies.
