New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Special Cell, along with central agencies, has busted a terror module and arrested three suspected operatives following coordinated raids across multiple states, officials said on Thursday.

Two suspects, Aftab and Sufiyan, both from Mumbai, were apprehended in Delhi, while another, identified as Ashar Danish, was arrested in Ranchi. The raids were launched based on intelligence inputs suggesting the group was planning a major terror attack in the country.

Searches at several locations led to the seizure of weapons, chemicals, and materials used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). “Police recovered IED components, electronic equipment, and several chemicals, including sodium bicarbonate, along with gas masks, wires, fuse points, and other electrical materials,” a source said.

In Ranchi, Danish’s hideout yielded additional chemicals and materials suspected to be for explosive manufacturing. Preliminary investigations indicate the module was in contact with handlers and was preparing for a large-scale attack.

Interrogations of the arrested suspects are ongoing to map their network, funding sources, and potential targets. Central agencies are also analyzing seized digital devices to trace contacts and possible international links.

Authorities said the arrests have successfully averted a potential terror strike in the country.
