Dy CM Surinder Choudhary Inspects Flood-Hit Areas, Assures Relief & Rehabilitation
JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall and flash floods.
He visited the worst-affected localities of Sidra, Majeen, Lower Rangoora, and Dawara Chowk, where he interacted with flood-hit families and reviewed the losses suffered by residential houses, agricultural fields, public utilities, and road networks.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the administration to immediately provide ration, clean drinking water, medicines, and temporary shelters to all affected families. He also instructed concerned departments to prepare a detailed loss assessment report for timely submission to the Government, enabling early release of compensation and rehabilitation packages.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, Choudhary assured that the Omar Abdullah-led Government is fully committed to their welfare. He emphasized that timely relief, effective rehabilitation, and long-term safety of residents remain the administration’s top priorities.
Later, during a surprise inspection of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Jammu, the Dy CM reviewed office functioning, checked the attendance register, and stressed punctuality among staff. He underlined the need for prompt service delivery, better management of public inflow, and improved infrastructure, directing officials to ensure that government benefits reach the last beneficiary in real time without hassles.
