SRINAGAR/GANDERBAL: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, accompanied by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, on Monday undertook an extensive tour of Srinagar and Ganderbal districts to review ongoing development works related to roads and bridges.

At Nehru Park, the Deputy CM inspected preparations for the widening of Boulevard Road from Nehru Park to Kralsangri. He said the project will greatly enhance connectivity, ease public movement, and boost economic activity in Srinagar.

In Ganderbal, the Deputy CM reviewed progress on Hospital Road and the Gozhama Bridge. He inspected the road from Bus Stand to District Hospital, sanctioned under NABARD at a cost of ₹7.51 crore, and directed the Executive Engineer to ensure early completion for smooth hospital connectivity.

At Shilwat, the Deputy CM was briefed on the proposed double-lane Gozhama Bridge with a 208-metre span. The DPR worth ₹44.25 crore has been submitted for approval, including ₹12.77 crore for the main bridge and ₹5.74 crore for approach roads. He directed officers to expedite formalities to ensure timely execution.

Later, the Deputy CM visited the under-construction Noor Jahan Bridge at Qamarwari. Once completed, the 127-metre span bridge will serve as an alternate link across the Jhelum, easing traffic congestion on Srinagar’s busy routes and improving connectivity for Noorbagh, Qamarwari, Khanyar, Nallahmar Road, and adjoining areas.

He emphasized timely completion of the project, stressing that the government is committed to finishing all critical infrastructure works in a time-bound manner. The Deputy CM directed concerned authorities to closely monitor progress and ensure the bridge is dedicated to the public within the announced timeline.
