Deputy Commissioner Jammu reviews relief and rehabilitation measures at Rajeev Colony and Peer Kho

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, along with Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, today visited Rajeev Colony near Bikram Chowk to review ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal and SDM Jammu South Manu Hansa were also present.

Dr. Minhas assured that adequate manpower and machinery have been deployed to clear debris by tomorrow afternoon. He stated that the district administration is actively supplying food and water to affected areas.

“It is our endeavour to conduct water sample testing and fogging to prevent any outbreak of diseases,” he added.

The Deputy Commissioner noted that experts are assessing the damages along the banks of the Tawi River, and necessary repair work will be undertaken to prevent further losses. He also highlighted that water supply through tankers is being efficiently managed, with district administration and JMC teams working jointly on the ground.

Regarding power restoration, Dr. Minhas confirmed that urgent repairs are underway on a war-footing basis to ensure timely service across the district.

Later, he visited Peer Kho to assess damages at the prominent tourist and religious site.
