Deputy Commissioner Jammu Reviews Rural Development Works, Emphasizes Quality and Timely Implementation

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a review meeting of the Rural Development Department, focusing on the implementation of flagship schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G), MGNREGA, and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

During the review of PMAY(G) and MGNREGA progress, Dr. Minhas directed Block Development Officers to take the lead in accelerating project execution and ensuring effective implementation of block-wise plans. He stressed timely disbursement of MGNREGA payments and increasing workdays to maximize benefits for the rural population.

The Deputy Commissioner also examined block-wise targets and achievements under SBM(G), assessing progress on Individual Household Latrines, Community Sanitary Complexes, Solid Waste Management plants, community compost pits, and waste management sheds. He highlighted that the mission’s ultimate goal is proper waste collection, segregation, and scientific disposal, urging officers to intensify efforts toward this objective.

Dr. Minhas instructed officials to conduct regular inspections of civil works to ensure quality and timely completion. Revenue officials were asked to proactively resolve land disputes that could impede developmental projects.

The meeting also reviewed physical and financial progress under the District Capex Budget 2025–26, with the DC emphasizing a review of panchayat ghar infrastructure across jurisdictions.

Appreciating the department’s dedication during recent floods, Dr. Minhas lauded the officers’ commitment and encouraged continued contributions to the district’s development.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sher Singh, CPO Ajaypal Singh, ACP Shahzada Noor ul Ain, ACD Danish Rasool Mir, and Block Development Officers.
