PATNA: Thousands of devotees across Bihar offered prayers to the rising sun on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of the four-day Chhath Puja celebrations.

From the early hours, devotees gathered along the banks of the Ganga and other water bodies to perform the sacred ‘Usha Arghya’ ritual, paying obeisance to the Sun God.

Officials said the Patna district administration had made extensive arrangements at over 100 ghats to ensure devotees’ safety and prevent any untoward incidents. Several medical camps were also set up at various locations across the city.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with his family, offered prayers at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, as part of the Chhath Puja rituals.

The festival was also observed at the residences of several political leaders in the state capital.

The four-day celebration began on October 25 with the traditional ‘Nahai Khai’ ritual. Chhath Puja is observed on the sixth day of the Kartik Shukla Paksha, falling six days after Diwali.
