Jammu: Director General of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan, on Wednesday toured several flood-hit areas of Jammu to assess damage to road infrastructure.

Lt Gen Srinivasan is on a three-day visit to the region after incessant rains, flash floods and landslides left dozens of roads and bridges damaged, including the vital Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

“Under Project Sampark, the BRO chief inspected rain and flood-affected areas to review the extent of damage and oversee measures for early restoration,” a BRO spokesperson said.

He directed field staff and commanding officers to expedite repair and restoration works to ensure swift resumption of connectivity.

Nine consecutive days of rainfall have wreaked havoc in Jammu, claiming over 120 lives and causing extensive damage to houses, power and water supply systems, agricultural land, and road networks.
