Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Wednesday emphasized the urgent need to eliminate organised crime and mafia networks from the Union Territory.
During his visit to the Crime Branch headquarters in Srinagar, the DGP reviewed the unit’s functioning, ongoing investigations, and overall performance, a police spokesperson said.
He chaired a meeting with senior officers, where he was briefed on key cases, including those related to cybercrime, financial fraud, and other serious offenses. Prabhat urged officers to carry out their duties with integrity and efficiency.
Stressing the importance of technology in modern policing, the DGP underlined the need for meticulous case documentation to strengthen investigations and ensure effective prosecution in courts.
“This is the high time to root out organised crime and mafia networks in J&K,” he asserted.
He also commended the efforts of the Crime Branch and assured enhanced training and support, particularly in handling cyber and financial crimes.
Later, Prabhat interacted with the staff, lauding their work and promising continued support from the Police Headquarters.
The visit was part of the DGP’s ongoing field review programme aimed at boosting coordination and operational effectiveness across police units in Jammu and Kashmir.
