Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday emphasised the need to strengthen Srinagar’s security grid through advanced surveillance systems, effective inter-agency coordination, and proactive field operations.
Chairing a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room, Prabhat assessed the prevailing security situation in the Valley and discussed strategies to further enhance the security and intelligence network, a police spokesperson said.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). At the outset, officers briefed the DGP on the current security scenario and the preparedness levels in their respective jurisdictions.

The DGP directed the officials to improve coordination, efficiency, and field readiness. He instructed them to set up dynamic and surprise nakas (checkpoints) at strategic and vulnerable points to ensure stronger area domination and deterrence.
Prabhat further stressed the importance of seamless communication between adjoining districts to facilitate inter-district coordination and real-time intelligence sharing.
Highlighting the need for operational agility, he asked district police chiefs to strengthen their quick reaction teams (QRTs) with better mobility, training, and equipment. He also called for modernising and upgrading the communication infrastructure to maintain secure and uninterrupted connectivity across all levels.
Concluding the meeting, DGP Prabhat reiterated the importance of professionalism, vigilance, and people-friendly policing while maintaining the highest standards of operational preparedness, the spokesperson added.
