Thousands Join ‘Run for Unity’ Celebrating the Legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

RAJOURI: To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, the District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with MY Bharat, today organised a district-level Sardar@150 Padyatra (Run for Unity) from Danidhar Fort to Dak Bungalow, Rajouri.

The event was jointly flagged off by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Tejinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, and SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar, who also participated in the Padyatra alongside students, local youth, and government employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma said that the Run for Unity symbolises the spirit of national integration and collective strength. “This event serves to unite the youth and remind everyone of Sardar Patel’s remarkable contribution in integrating the nation. It is not just a run, but a tribute to the values of unity, integrity, and determination that he embodied,” he added.

Thousands of participants, including students, youth, and government officials, took part in the event, which culminated at Dak Bungalow Rajouri with the administration of a Pledge for Unity and Integrity.

The celebration featured a series of cultural performances highlighting the themes of unity and nation-building. Participants were also felicitated, and a plantation drive was conducted to promote harmony with nature.

Various government departments set up information stalls to showcase welfare schemes and public outreach programmes.

Similar Sardar@150 Unity Marches were held across the district at Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kotranka, and Thanamandi, witnessing enthusiastic participation from all sections of society.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ideals of unity, integrity, and national service.

Among others, ADDC Rajouri Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq, ADC Rajouri Chander Prakash, ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan, ACD Auqil Naveed, and other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
