District Doda resonates with patriotic fervour as institutions mark 150 years of Vande Mataram

DODA: The entire District Doda came alive with patriotic zeal as schools and colleges across the region celebrated the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song Vande Mataram — a timeless emblem of India’s unity, strength, and freedom.

Educational institutions organized a series of vibrant activities, including Vande Mataram singing, painting and essay writing competitions, quiz contests, plantation drives, and cleanliness campaigns, truly reflecting the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

At Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Girls Bhaderwah, students participated enthusiastically in singing, painting, and essay writing competitions, as well as a cleanliness drive held under the supervision of Principal Shafayat Ali. The celebration beautifully captured the essence of creativity, unity, and national devotion, culminating in a group selfie at the “Vande Mataram 150 Selfie Point.”

Similarly, GHSS Boys Doda, under the guidance of Principal Rishi Kumar, organized painting and essay writing competitions where students showcased their patriotism, artistic flair, and understanding of India’s rich cultural and historical legacy.

At Government Degree College (GDC) Kastigarh, Principal Prof. Koshal Mangotra led two major events — a Quiz Competition and a Plantation Drive themed “Salute the Mother Earth.” In the quiz, students Chandanjeet Singh, Amir Hussain, and Kavita Devi secured the top three positions. The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Arjun Singh, with Dr. Anupam Lata delivering the Vote of Thanks. The plantation drive on the college campus promoted environmental awareness, with students spreading the message “Each One, Plant One” and “Save Tree, Save Life.”

GHSS Kandhote marked the occasion with a Cleanliness Drive symbolizing purity, unity, and national pride. Students and staff took a pledge to work towards a clean and green India, singing Vande Mataram in unison, echoing the ideals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Government High School Seri celebrated the day with patriotic songs, speeches, and cultural performances highlighting the historical and emotional significance of Vande Mataram. The event concluded with resounding slogans of unity and memorable moments captured at the “Vande Mataram 150 Selfie Point.”

Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Bhata Paryote also organized painting and essay writing competitions where students expressed their love for the nation through art and words. The celebration ended with the collective singing of Vande Mataram, reflecting the spirit of national pride and harmony.

The widespread celebrations across District Doda not only paid a glowing tribute to 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram but also reinforced values of patriotism, environmental consciousness, and social responsibility among students — a true celebration of India’s unity, pride, and cultural richness.
