Jammu : In view of the disruption of water supply caused by the recent floods, District Magistrate Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, has invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to regulate the operation of private water tankers across the district.
As per the order, all private water tankers and borewells have been requisitioned and placed under the administrative control of the Jal Shakti Department to ensure fair and equitable distribution of drinking water to the public.
The District Magistrate has cautioned that any violation of the order will invite strict penal action. Unauthorized movement of tankers will be dealt with firmly, and the Traffic Police have been directed to impound such vehicles immediately.
The order has come into effect with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further notice.
The District Administration has appealed to the public to cooperate in this emergency measure, which is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted water supply to all sections of society during the crisis.
