BARAMULLA: The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, invites all residents to a mega event tomorrow on 15th of November, at Government Degree College Uri, to observe JanJati Gaurav Diwas and celebrate the Jayanti (birth anniversary) of Birsa Munda, a legendary freedom fighter, religious leader, and folk hero from the Munda tribe.
The event will also raise awareness about the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a flagship scheme recently launched by the Government of India. The initiative focuses on empowering tribal communities by improving education, healthcare, livelihoods, and infrastructure, in line with the vision of Empowering Tribals, Transforming India.
During a recent talk with media persons, DC Baramulla emphasized the significance of JanJati Gaurav Diwas and the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift tribal communities. “This event is an opportunity not only to celebrate Birsa Munda’s remarkable legacy but also to highlight the launch of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, which is a vital step toward ensuring the inclusive growth of tribal regions,” he said.
The celebration at GDC Uri will feature cultural performances, discussions, and awareness sessions about tribal heritage and the goals of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan. DC Baramulla encouraged all citizens to join the event in honoring tribal pride and supporting the development of tribal communities.
