JAMMU : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tuti, today chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations by district administrations for the upcoming festivals of Navratri, Ram Navami, Dussehra, and Diwali.
The meeting was attended by IGP Traffic J&K, MD JPDCL, Commissioner JMC, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs from across Jammu Division, Director Information, and HoDs of Tourism, Floriculture, RDD, Health Services, ULB, FCS&CA, SSP Security, SSP Traffic, along with officials from PWD, Jal Shakti, Legal Metrology, and Fire & Emergency Services Departments.


Detailed discussions were held on various aspects of festival arrangements, emphasizing civil supplies, security, connectivity, and civic amenities to ensure smooth celebrations. The Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu sought updates from district administrations and department heads on the status of preparations.
Directions were issued to ensure seamless arrangements at and around religious sites, with particular focus on sanitation, crowd management, road accessibility, drinking water, power supply, traffic management, availability of essential commodities, and monitoring of market prices.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners to personally inspect major religious shrines attracting large gatherings and ensure adequate deployment of police personnel and an organized queue management system.
Guidelines were also issued for meticulous planning of routes for religious processions and selection of venues for Ramleela performances. The IGP directed SSPs to prepare detailed police deployment and traffic management plans for the festive period.
Health and Fire Emergency departments were instructed to station ambulances, fire tenders, doctors, and support staff at key religious sites. Additionally, Deputy Commissioners were asked to implement robust fire safety measures at designated firecracker sale points.
