Div Com Jammu reviews district, hospital preparedness to curb Dengue spread
JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness of district administrations and healthcare institutions across Jammu Division to prevent a surge in Dengue cases.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, and Kathua; Director Urban Local Bodies; Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu; Director Health Services Jammu; Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation; Malariologist; and other concerned officers and medical experts.
The Divisional Commissioner was briefed on a year-wise comparative analysis of Dengue cases and identification of vulnerable hotspots. A detailed discussion was held on preventive strategies, district-level readiness, and the availability of essential medical equipment and staff in hospitals.
Ramesh Kumar directed the Deputy Commissioners to formulate comprehensive action plans in coordination with officials from Health, Urban Local Bodies, Block Development Offices, and District Malaria Officers, outlining key measures to control the disease’s spread. He stressed the need for intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities and widespread awareness campaigns on precautionary measures against Dengue.
He also instructed health authorities to regularly share Dengue case data with municipal bodies to ensure prompt implementation of anti-Dengue measures.
The Principal GMC Jammu apprised the Divisional Commissioner of the preparedness of GMC and associated hospitals to effectively manage Dengue patients.
