Div Com Kashmir Reviews Preparations for Indian Heaven Premier League, Urges Strict Adherence to Online Ticketing

SRINAGAR: The inaugural edition of the T20 Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) is set to begin on October 25 at Srinagar’s Bakhshi Stadium, featuring a mix of international, national, and local cricketing talent. The high-energy tournament will see eight teams compete over a fortnight, with an expected attendance of 25,000 to 30,000 spectators daily from across Jammu and Kashmir.

To ensure smooth conduct of the mega sporting event, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, chaired a high-level meeting with officials from various departments to review the arrangements and assess preparedness.

During the meeting, the Div Com directed organisers to keep security agencies informed about the players’ arrival, accommodation, and movement schedules. He also emphasised strict reliance on online ticketing to streamline crowd management and reduce on-site congestion.

Garg instructed the police and security departments to deploy adequate personnel for effective crowd control and ensure a safe environment for spectators. He further directed that entry timings for spectators and match conclusion schedules be strictly adhered to. The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was asked to depute magistrates for better coordination among all stakeholders.

Regarding aerial and media coverage, the Div Com directed concerned agencies to seek prior permission from the district administration for drone operations.

Departments of Jal Shakti and Power Development (PDD) were instructed to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply at the venue. The SMC, Sports Council, and event organisers were asked to maintain cleanliness and sanitation drives around the stadium throughout the event.

To ensure safety and convenience, Garg directed the organisers to clearly specify the food items permitted inside the venue, identify suitable parking areas, and station fire tenders near the stadium. The Health Department was instructed to deploy fully-equipped ambulances and prepare a medical and paramedical staff roster for continuous on-site availability.

The meeting was attended by DC Srinagar and senior officers from the Sports Council, SMC, Information Department, Jal Shakti, PDD, Traffic Police, Airport Authority, Tourism, Health, Fire & Emergency Services, and other concerned departments.
