STP to Become Operational Soon: Div Com Anshul Garg
SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Comprehensive Sewerage Scheme – Zone III of Greater Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC); Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar; Chief Engineer, KPDCL; Superintending Engineer, UEED; and officers from R&B, NBCC, and the Revenue Department.
During the meeting, officials from NBCC presented a detailed progress report on the project. It was informed that the Trunk Sewer Line stands 99% complete, the Lateral Sewer Line is fully completed, the 60 MLD STP is 98% complete, and the Infall Pump Station (60 MLD) has been completed in all respects, while household connections have also been fully achieved.
It was decided that trial runs of the completed system will commence on October 16, 2025, covering two of the three zones under the project and benefitting over 13,000 households.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed issues impeding progress, including relocation of shops, realignment of PHE lines, and shifting of 11KV and 33KV power lines.
Emphasizing the importance of timely completion, Garg directed all departments to resolve pending issues on priority, especially those related to household connectivity. He further instructed the concerned authorities to identify suitable land for shop relocation to facilitate linkage of Sector-I with the main sewerage network.
The Div Com directed all executing agencies to ensure that the entire project is commissioned within the stipulated timeline.
