POONCH: In the wake of heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions affecting parts of the district, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafket Hussain Batt, today carried out a joint field visit to assess the situation and review ongoing relief measures.
The officials visited flood-prone areas in Surankote and Poonch to evaluate the impact on infrastructure, agricultural land, and residential neighborhoods. They interacted with local residents, assured timely assistance, and urged caution and adherence to safety measures.
DC Sharma stated that the administration is closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety and expedite the restoration of normalcy. SSP Batt highlighted that police forces remain on high alert and appealed to the public to follow official advisories.
The DC and SSP also inspected the District Hospital Poonch to review healthcare services and emergency preparedness. They engaged with medical staff, checked facilities, and verified the availability of medicines and essential supplies. DC Sharma directed health authorities to stay prepared for any emergencies and commended the hospital staff for their dedication during the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
