Div Com Kashmir Reviews Preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi at Prominent Shrines
SRINAGAR: Ahead of the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W), Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Saturday chaired a meeting of senior officers to ensure comprehensive arrangements at key religious sites, including major mosques and shrines across the region.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division, Commissioner SMC, SSPs, SSP Traffic Rural, senior officers from civil departments including KPDCL, PHE, FCS&CA, PWD, Food Safety, Legal Metrology, LCMA, Wakf Board, Health Department, Police, as well as religious leaders from various shrines.
Div Com Garg reviewed the availability of essential civil amenities at major shrines, including Hazratbal Shrine, Jenab Sahib Soura, Aasar-i-Sharief Kalashpora, Aham-i-Sharief Bandipora, Kabamarg Anantnag, Pethmakhama Budgam, Dargah-e-Aaliya Baramulla, and other mosques and shrines where large congregations are expected for night prayers.
Special focus was placed on Hazratbal Shrine, where over one lakh devotees are anticipated for congregational and night prayers on Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Garg directed the CE KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at the shrine, including a backup DG set plan, and instructed that any scheduled power shutdowns be postponed for the occasion.
The PHE department was asked to install an adequate number of drinking water points, supported by standby water tankers near the shrine. For smooth transportation, Div Com Garg instructed SSCL, RTC, and ARTO to deploy sufficient buses and e-autos for devotees until late night, while Traffic Police Srinagar was tasked with preparing detailed route plans for visitors from different districts. SSP Rural was directed to deploy traffic personnel along shrine routes and coordinate deployment orders with the respective Deputy Commissioners.
Emphasizing comfort for visitors, Garg instructed Wakf officers to ensure the installation of tents at all designated locations ahead of September 4. He also tasked Commissioner SMC with implementing a thorough sanitation and cleanliness drive at Hazratbal Shrine.
Further, joint market checking teams were to be constituted to monitor food hygiene and quality near religious sites, with strict action against violators for substandard practices or overcharging. The Health Department was directed to organize medical camps and deploy staff as per rosters, while Fire & Emergency Services were asked to station fire tenders at critical junctions for rapid response.
Imams present at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place to facilitate devotees. Deputy Commissioners also briefed the Div Com on preparations in their respective districts.
