SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a meeting to address persistent network coverage issues in shadow areas across districts including Srinagar, Kupwara, Shopian, and Anantnag.
The meeting emphasized the urgent need to improve mobile connectivity, focusing on the timely installation of telecom towers. Garg directed BSNL to submit a phase-wise report detailing all existing tower sites and the status of ongoing work, while also initiating construction at locations where land has already been transferred to the company.
To resolve land-related hurdles, district administrations were instructed to address any revenue or transfer issues promptly, ensuring the smooth and timely completion of tower installations in shadow areas. The Divisional Commissioner also stressed the need to remove duplicate entries from the combined list of proposed tower sites to avoid redundancy and streamline the process.
Addressing concerns over a proposed tower near Dachigam Wildlife Park, Garg instructed officials to identify an alternative location at Mulnar to prevent conflicts with conservation efforts. He further urged BSNL officers to take a proactive approach in coordinating with district administrations and other concerned authorities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shopian; Additional Commissioner Kashmir; Additional Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Kupwara, and Anantnag; Assistant Commissioner Central; DGM BSNL; OSD to the Divisional Commissioner; and other officials.
