DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh on Sunday on visited Upper Puneja to assess the damage caused by a recent fire incident and to take stock of the situation on the ground. During the visit, the DC met the affected families and assured them of all possible assistance and timely relief from the district administration.
The DC inspected the gutted structures and reviewed the extent of losses suffered by the families. He directed the concerned departments to immediately complete the damage assessment and submit reports to facilitate the release of relief and compensation under the prescribed norms.
Expressing concern over the incident, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to ensure that the affected families are provided with immediate support, including temporary shelter and essential supplies, to ease their hardship.
The DC also interacted with local residents and listened to their issues, assuring them that preventive measures would be strengthened to avoid such incidents in the future. He emphasized the need for awareness regarding fire safety, particularly in vulnerable areas.
Senior officers from the district administration and other concerned departments accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
