DRDO hands over technology for eight defence products to industry partners at SAMANVAY 2025

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday transferred 12 Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LATOTs) covering eight cutting-edge defence products to industry partners during the inaugural session of SAMANVAY 2025, a two-day industry synergy meet organised by the Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS) Cluster of DRDO in Bengaluru.

The transferred technologies include the D-29 Electronic Warfare Suite, NATSAT-Handheld and NATSAT-Mini Terminals, Sarang Electronic Support Measure System (under Programme SAMUDRIKA), DOLPHIN-II, Laser Beam Rider Guidance System with Eye-safe Laser Range Finder, Athermal Laser Target Designator, Laser Photoacoustic Spectroscopy, and M-Type Dispenser Cathode. The recipients comprise Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, and private sector companies such as DH Limited, Enertech Engineering Pvt Ltd, Beam Infotech Pvt Ltd, Nibe Ltd, and Panacea Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd.

Virtually inaugurating the event, Dr Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, said that the organisation is bridging innovation and industry to empower Indian defence manufacturing towards self-reliance. He emphasised DRDO’s commitment to working closely with industry partners to convert research into deployable capabilities in line with the government’s vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.

Dr Kamat also noted that DRDO has set up Industry Interaction Groups across all its laboratories and headquarters to enhance industry awareness of its collaboration opportunities and policies.

Guest of Honour, Padma Vibhushan Dr R.A. Mashelkar, former Director General of CSIR, delivered the keynote address titled “Resurgence of Innovative India: The Challenge and the Strategy”, highlighting the role of innovation, research institutions, and industry partnerships in driving transformational growth.

Dr B.K. Das, Director General, ECS Cluster, congratulated the participating industries and encouraged start-ups to design innovative solutions for large-scale defence systems. He reaffirmed government support for such initiatives and urged major industries to mentor MSMEs and start-ups to help convert novel ideas into market-ready products.

Attended by over 150 industry representatives, SAMANVAY 2025 features ten sessions focused on industry engagement, MSME and start-up collaborations, and development-cum-production partnerships. The discussions aim to strengthen the defence R&D ecosystem and boost indigenous manufacturing capabilities in the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
