Jammu: Police on Monday attached a double-storey house of an alleged drug peddler in Doda district under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The property, belonging to Shakeela Begum alias Taya—currently lodged in Bhaderwah jail—was sealed in Sadeeqabad locality, a police spokesperson said.

“Begum is involved in four FIRs related to the illegal drug trade, and the house was found to have been acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking,” the spokesperson added.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, said the force is committed to eliminating the drug menace.
“Our strategy goes beyond arrests; we are dismantling the entire drug network by targeting both offenders and their illegally amassed assets. Strict legal action will continue against all involved in this trade,” he said.

The SSP also urged the public, particularly youth, to stay away from drugs and assist police with information on peddlers, assuring that informers’ identities will remain confidential.
