Dy CM Surinder Choudhary inspects flood-affected areas in Jammu and Rajouri districts to evaluate damage caused by heavy rainfall

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary today conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected areas in Jammu district and Sunderbani in Rajouri to assess the damage in submerged villages.

The Deputy CM visited Rah Salyote and Pargwal villages in Jammu and Sunderbani in Rajouri to meet affected families and review the situation on the ground. At Rah Salyote in tehsil Chowki Choura, he visited the Flood Relief Sewa Camp along with Minister Satish Sharma. Both leaders interacted with the victims and assessed the facilities to ensure smooth delivery of aid and assistance.

While speaking with the affected families, the Deputy CM assured them that the government is standing “shoulder to shoulder” with them during these challenging times. “Every possible effort will be made, and complete support will be provided to deliver relief and assistance to the victims,” he said.

During the tour, the Deputy CM also inspected the Pargwal–Indripatan Bridge and surrounding areas, emphasizing that efforts will be intensified and resources optimized to complete the project at the earliest.

Choudhary reaffirmed that, in this hour of crisis, the Omar Abdullah government is committed to supporting the affected communities. He highlighted that the government will provide prompt relief, technical assistance, and necessary support for recovery and reconstruction while ensuring the safety and well-being of the people.

Minister Satish Sharma stated that the government is working around the clock to assist flood victims and provide immediate relief, expressing hope that the situation will normalize soon.

Earlier, during his visit to Sunderbani in Rajouri, the Deputy CM met families affected by the recent heavy rains, assured them of government support, and offered condolences to the family who lost a mother and daughter in a wall collapse.
