Mega Job Fair under Mission YUVA Inaugurated at Convention Centre, Jammu

JAMMU: In a landmark step to empower the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, the Employment Department J&K organized a Mega Job Fair today under Mission YUVA at the Convention Centre, Jammu. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and witnessed enthusiastic participation from job seekers, employers, government officials, and academic institutions.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister urged the youth to make the most of the opportunities under Mission YUVA, describing it as “a transformative movement aimed at building a self-reliant and empowered generation.” He reaffirmed the government’s commitment, under the leadership of CM Omar Abdullah, to create new avenues for employment and support the aspirations of educated youth.

Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary highlighted that the Mega Job Fair is a milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to equip the youth with the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving socio-economic landscape. He emphasized that Mission YUVA is the first-of-its-kind initiative of the J&K government, designed to foster employment, entrepreneurship, and skill development through robust institutional support, credit-linked schemes, career counseling, market linkages, and capacity-building programs.

The Job Fair attracted over 2,200 job seekers and 55 leading companies, collectively offering more than 1,500 vacancies across sectors such as IT, manufacturing, finance, retail, and healthcare, providing a dynamic platform to bridge the gap between skilled youth and employers.

A key highlight was the inauguration of three major platforms on the Mission YUVA app and portal:

Online Job Matching Platform – facilitating real-time interaction between employers and job seekers.

Enterprise Mentorship Initiative – offering guidance and mentorship to budding entrepreneurs.

ONDC-based E-commerce Platform – enabling enterprises to showcase and sell products to wider markets.

So far, 83 employers have posted 17 job openings with 631 applications submitted through the Online Job Matching Platform, while about 228 enterprises have applied for mentorship under the Enterprise Mentorship Initiative.

The event also advanced entrepreneurship promotion, with 55 young entrepreneurs receiving sanction letters under Mission YUVA’s credit-linked schemes to establish ventures under Nano Enterprises and Business Acceleration categories.

The occasion marked the culmination of YUVA UDHYAM FEST, celebrating youth talent through competitions in speech, essay writing, painting, and quizzes. Twenty-four outstanding participants were felicitated by the Deputy Chief Minister with cash prizes and certificates, while a total of 264 students were recognized as winners across the UT.

The program began with a welcome address by Shahzad Alam, Director Employment and Managing Director of Mission YUVA, who outlined the initiative’s vision and components, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Paramjeet Singh, Joint Director Employment, Jammu.
