Srinagar, Nov 29: A pre-dawn fire broke out at the OPD building of JVC Hospital in Bemina, Srinagar, causing damage to the structure and sparking panic among patients and staff present at the facility.

Hospital officials said the blaze was noticed in the early hours and fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to contain the flames before they could spread to adjoining wards, preventing a larger disaster.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported, though the OPD section sustained significant damage. Patients scheduled for consultations were shifted to other parts of the hospital to ensure continuity of medical services.

Police and fire department officials have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the blaze. Preliminary reports suggest an electrical short circuit may have triggered the incident, though confirmation is awaited.

The hospital administration assured that emergency services remain functional and appealed to the public not to panic. Repairs and restoration work are expected to begin immediately to resume full OPD operations at the earliest.
