Earthquake Strikes Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border; Tremors Felt Across J&K

Srinagar: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border region on Friday evening, with tremors felt across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Weatherman, citing data from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake struck at around 5:45 p.m. Its epicentre was recorded at latitude 36.62°N and longitude 72.72°E, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres.

Kashmir Weather reported that the tremors were felt in many areas across the Valley, prompting people to rush out of their homes and offices in panic. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
