New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, along with actor Sonu Sood, for questioning in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to an illegal online betting app, officials said Tuesday.

Uthappa (39), Singh (43), and Sood (52) are expected to record their statements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) next week in a probe related to the platform 1xBet. Uthappa is scheduled to appear on September 22, Singh on September 23, and Sood on September 24, the officials added.

In recent weeks, the ED has questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan as part of the ongoing investigation. The agency also recorded a statement from former TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty on Monday.

Bengali actor Ankush Hazra appeared before the ED on Tuesday as per his summons, while actor Urvashi Rautela, India’s brand ambassador for 1xBet, is yet to appear, sources said.

The investigation relates to alleged illegal betting apps that reportedly defrauded numerous people and investors of crores of rupees, while also allegedly evading significant tax liabilities.

According to 1xBet, the company is a globally recognized bookmaker with 18 years of experience in the betting industry. The platform allows customers to place bets on thousands of sporting events, with its website and app available in 70 languages.
